Full Disclosure - I'm not in Rome...

Even though I'll continue posting about the Station Churches over this next week - I am actually in South Africa this week on a visitation with the Cardinal.  Today we landed in Johannesburg where we were met by the Apostolic Nuncio - Archbishop Peter Wells.  He took us back to the Nunciature, he had a little rest, celebrated Mass, had a wonderful lunch (and nap) and then went out to see some of the sights here in Pretoria.  Here are some photos from today.

We stopped near the Union Buildings - the official seat of the executive branch of the South African government.  It sits on a hill overlooking the city.  It was a BEAUTIFUL day today!

There's a very large statue in the gardens (which Archbishop Wells called the "National Mall" of Pretoria) of Nelson Mandela.

Then we stopped at the Cathedral for the Archdiocese of Pretoria.

The we went to a beautiful overlook.  Fr. Roman (the priest assistant here at the Nunciature) said there were Zebras - we didn't see any...  Do you?

Cardinal O'Brien and "Lucky" (his nickname) - one of the employees here at the Nunciature.

We've got a very awesome week planned.  Although we are here for work, I've also got some apparent vacation time - with a Safari planned for Monday into Tuesday.  I'm missing a week of classes - but I think it's well worth it!  I'll be posting photos from South Africa - as well as information about the Station Churches back in Rome.
